  1. Atlanta's main post office near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport could have a new name in the future. A bill to rename the location after the late civil rights leader and congressman John Lewis is currently on President Joe Biden's desk. The bill was passed both the House and the Senate. (U.S. News & World Report)
  2. A tractor trailer caught fire yesterday morning on I-285 South causing lanes to close for over an hour during the morning commute. The driver of the refrigeration trailer said he was taking the exit when he saw flames in his rearview mirror. The tractor trailer was headed to Florida with dog food. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. Collier Heights residents are frustrated with a vacant home which is an eyesore in the historic neighborhood. A filled construction dumpster – putting out an odor – sits in the driveway, grass and weeds in the yard are knee high, and rodents and insects are calling the vacant property home. The home sits under a Stop Work Order because the real estate firm which purchased the property began doing renovations without proper permits. The investor says all necessary permits were applied for but City Hall's "red tape" is what is keeping them from getting the permits. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  4. Bryan Keith Schmitt, a former Atlanta attorney, was found guilty of murder today. Schmitt was convicted for a 2019 road rage incident where he drove his Mercedes at Hamid Jahangard, 60, running him over and, ultimately, killing him. The incident reportedly started after the victim threw a golf ball at Schmitt's Mercedes. (WSB Atlanta)
  5. Atlanta dog owners could be fined for noisy animals after 10 minutes with a new ordinance. The Atlanta City Council says dog owners now run the risk of a $150 fine and citation if their dog is being a nuisance by howling, barking, or whining for 10 minutes. The ordinance also applies to cats, birds, and other animals. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
