PEACHTREE CITY, GA -- While rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days, Christmas Day in metro Atlanta is shaping up to be clear and pleasant, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

The last weekend before Christmas is also predicted to be clear and cool. Here's your latest metro Atlanta forecast:

Showers. High near 53. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday Night

Showers. Low around 46. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Friday

Showers, mainly before 2pm. High near 48. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Friday Night

A 20 percent chance of showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Sunny, with a high near 51.
