Downpours, Cold Temps In GA Forecast
On a damp day, nightfall temperatures could plummet to 28 degrees in Georgia. Here's what to know about the "cold rain."
With temperatures anticipated to linger around 50 degrees, forecasters warned widespread "cold rain" could pour into Georgia on Monday evening into Tuesday.
The downpour is expected to hit north and central Georgia, including after 4 p.m. in metro Atlanta, where rainfall totals could reach above an inch, according to the National Weather Service.
This comes as the state experiences a dip in temperatures, with those in the mid-30s to 40s expected overnight. According to a NWS model, the higher temperatures will arrive in South Georgia.

The NWS did not predict any severe weather in metro Atlanta, only showers. Atlanta's sole reprieve from the rain will come Wednesday before showers return Thursday afternoon and last through Saturday night.

Here is the National Weather Service's Monday morning forecast for metro Atlanta:
Today: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 4 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 50. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
Tonight: Showers, mainly after 9 p.m. Low around 40. East wind 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Tuesday: Showers likely before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50. East wind 5-10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. Northwest wind 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 51. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
