A slain activist accused of shooting a Georgia State trooper at the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center ("Cop City") on Jan. 18 was shot over 12 times from multiple calibers, the family's attorney released. At a news conference yesterday morning, 26-year-old Manuel Esteban Paez Teran's parents and their attorneys asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to release the investigative report and any video or surveillance footage from that day.   2. Three Georgia State University graduate programs were highly ranked among the best online programs in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. The University's College of Education & Human Development tied at No. 19 in the category of Best Online Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction Programs and tied at No. 69 in the Best Online Master’s in Education Programs category. The Andrew Young School of Policy Studies’ Master of Interdisciplinary Studies in Criminal Justice Administration tied for No. 27 in the Best Online Master’s in the Criminal Justice category.   3. The Kaizen School, a Montessori-inspired daycare pod located inside a 1950s ranch-style house in Southeast Atlanta, won First Horizon's "Back to Business Contest." The daycare will use its $30,000 winnings to create an outdoor classroom space for children. First Horizon awarded an accumulated $1 million to nearly 50 small businesses. (The Business Journals)
  4. Every Wednesday this month, Woodruff Park will host free musical performances by local artists under the interactive Light + Sound Installation at the Gazebo. This Wednesday, Feb. 8, songwriter and violinist Joseph E. Reed will perform at 5 p.m. (Subscription: Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  5. On Feb. 19, chef and co-owner Zeb Stevenson's Redbird restaurant will officially close after serving food for three years in the Westside Provisions District.   • Rail service will be suspended south of the Medical Center Station from Feb. 17 at 9 p.m. to Feb. 22. Reduced frequency Red Line service to the airport will resume on Feb. 23, and full service will be restored on Feb. 26. (WSB Atlanta)
