Deputy Injured, Armed Robbery Suspect Dead In Fulton Co. Shooting
An armed robbery suspect, who died in a police shooting, was accused of shooting two workers at a Fulton County business.
ATLANTA, GA — A Fulton County deputy was injured in a West End shooting that killed a man, who was accused of attempting to rob two stores at gunpoint and shooting two workers.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday said a Krispy Kreme worker alerted the deputy to an armed robbery around 5:15 p.m. Monday at the Lee Street donut shop. The worker told the deputy the suspect remained in the area, the GBI said.
The deputy was working off-duty at a York Street business at the time, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office said.

He located the man behind an Easy Rental, the GBI said, accusing the man of earlier shooting two Easy Rental employees while trying to rob the store. Their statuses were not immediately known.
As the deputy approached the man, the GBI said the man shot at the deputy and the Krispy Kreme worker. From behind a car, the deputy shot the man, the GBI said.

The sheriff's office said the man had an automatic weapon.
It was while attempting to detain the man that authorities discovered the deputy had been shot in his hand, the GBI said.
The man and deputy were taken to a hospital, and the man was pronounced dead, the GBI said. The man's name was not released.
The deputy was released from the hospital, the sheriff's office said. He returned to the sheriff's office part-time in 2022 after spending 24 years at the department and retiring in 2017, the FCSO said.
Once complete, the GBI's case file will be given to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review. Atlanta Police is investigating the events that led to the shooting.
