Break-In Of Deputy's Home Leaves Man Dead, GA Bureau Of Investigations Says

A Fulton County Sheriff's Deputy shot and killed a man who investigators say broke into his southeast Atlanta home.

ATLANTA, GA — Investigators are looking into an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead after he was said to have broken into a Fulton County Sheriff’s deputy’s home, authorities said.

The deputy was returning home from work when he was notified by his Ring security camera that a man was breaking into his southeast Atlanta home, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.

The deputy, who was still in uniform but driving his personal car, saw the man from the Ring video walking away from the home with tools and a number of other stolen items, according to the GBI. Investigators said the deputy followed the man in his car as the man walked, and the lawman eventually confronted the man in a wooded area just off the road.
