Druid Hills Boy Scout Hailed As A Hero
Zachary Bryant rescued a 12-year-old boy from the swirling rapids of the Nantahala River during a rafting trip.

ATLANTA - A Druid Hills High School student and Boy Scout was honored Monday by the Atlanta City Council for rescuing a 12-year-old boy during a North Carolina whitewater rafting trip last year. Zachary Bryant is a scout from Troop 213, chartered out of Ebenezer Baptist Church. His troop was rafting with other scouts on the Nantahala River last July, when the boy fell into the water.
Bryant's raft was guided over to the boy, and Bryant reached out with his left hand and pulled the scout into his raft.
