Atlanta Diocese Of Atlanta Makes Crest A Rainbow For First Time During Pride Month
Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta changed its crest to show support for the LGBTQ community during Pride Month.
ATLANTA, GA — As Pride Month is celebrated across the country in June, the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta has joined in the celebration.
On its website, the colors of its official crest have been changed for the first time to reflect support for the LGBTQ community, said Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta spokesman Don Plummer in an email to Patch Thursday. Traditionally, purple and white, the crest is now shades of red, orange, violet, yellow, green and blue, like the rainbow flag.
“It’s not a question for us on what it means to love all of God’s beloved,” the diocese wrote on Facebook.

"We welcome everyone to the Episcopal Church, because we have made a promise to God to respect the dignity of every human being. No Exceptions," the email said.
Here's a statement from Bishop Robert C. Wright:

You are made in the image of God exactly how you are. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your name is Beloved; not Shameful, not Worthless, not Sinful, not Mistake. Your name is Redeemed. Your name is Friend. We are many kinds. We are black and white, gay and lesbian and straight, some of us have money and education, others not so much; but we are first and foremost followers of Jesus and this was Jesus’ only request of us- that we would love the world because He loves the world, with all of its warts, all of them, and all of its wonders, all of them.
