Escaped Inmate Remains At Large In GA: Latest Updates

A day after authorities say an inmate escaped from a hospital, they claimed he stole a second car before requesting an Uber to a GA home.

ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA — The inmate who escaped deputy custody at Grady Memorial Hospital ordered an Uber to a south Rockdale home Monday, but authorities say they still have not located him.

The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday morning said they are still searching for Timothy Shane after he escaped from Grady, where he was being medically examined after a suicide attempt, around 1:15 a.m. Monday.

Video footage captured him taking a silver Pontiac Grand Prix near the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but the car was later found at a Highway 155 grocery store in Henry County, authorities said Tuesday.

They say they believe Shane is wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt and dark blue pants with shoes, a difference in the blue hospital gown and bare feet they said he donned at the time of the escape.

While fleeing from the hospital, authorities said Shane stole a parked SUV and later crashed the vehicle before leaving the scene by foot.

The owner of the SUV told authorities a Glock handgun was stolen from the vehicle, they said.

Shane is 5-feet-9-inches tall and has a buzzed hair cut, authorities said. He is still considered to be armed and dangerous, authorities said.

Authorities asked anyone with information to call the sheriff's office, (770) 278-8000, or email authorities.
