'Dangerous' Inmate Facing Murder Charges On The Run From Effingham County Jail

Effingham County Sheriff's deputies are searching for fugitive Kevin David Lenix, who is accused of murder in a May 2020 Savannah incident.

GEORGIA – Law enforcement officials across the state are on the lookout for a “dangerous” fugitive who escaped from a south Georgia jail.

Around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, correctional staff working at the Effingham County Jail noticed that 32-year-old Kevin David Lenix was missing, according to WTOC reporter Cyreia Sandlin.

Lenix was in jail awaiting trial on three counts of malice murder charges, and charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon for a May 2020 incident in Savannah, according to reports.
