ATLANTA -- On Tuesday, May 14, the downtown community will pay tribute to the public safety agencies that serve throughout the city and state with a public ceremony and memorial service hosted by Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, as well as the Atlanta Police Department, and in partnership with the Atlanta Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Foundation.

In recognition of National Police Week (May 13-17, 2019) and Peace Officers Memorial Day (May 15), members of the Atlanta Interagency Law Enforcement (ILE) Partnership will hold a public ceremony in Woodruff Park, starting promptly at 9 am by the site of the Give Our Police A Hand Monument.

The monument, created by Steve Steinman, was dedicated by the Atlanta Bar Association in 1980, during the 1979-1981 Atlanta child murder crisis, to honor slain police officers and commend the efforts of the city’s law enforcement.
