'False Fall' To Cool Down GA But More Storms Forecast
If temperatures stay as predicted, weather officials say Georgia could record its fifth-coolest August for high temperatures since 1893.
ATLANTA, GA — After a summer of sweltering heat, cooler weather is on the way this week to Georgia — but so are more storms.
The National Weather Service on Monday predicted cooler than average temperatures and "crisp mornings" in north and central Georgia.
Seasonal temperatures will likely drop from highs of 80 to 93 degrees on Monday to at least 75 degrees by Friday, according to a NWS forecast. Tuesday night has the highest chance of being the coolest with an expected low temperature of at least 48 degrees.

A cold front is deemed the reason for "a mild end to August in Atlanta," according to the NWS.
The weather service shared a colorful graphic of the front passing through the Southeast on Sunday. Weather officials said the white, blue and green colors mean humid air was present.

"Enjoy this taste of False Fall while it lasts," the NWS said in a Facebook post published Sunday.
If temperatures stay as predicted, the weather service said Georgia could record its fifth-coolest August for high temperatures since 1893.
Cooler weather will not keep the rain away, though. Isolated to scattered storms are anticipated beginning Thursday in the region, including in metro Atlanta.
The storms may not be severe, the NWS said in its hazardous weather outlook. Still, residents may want to enjoy a dry start to the week before the foreseeable downpour.
Meanwhile in the Atlantic Ocean, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring Tropical Storm Fernand and a tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean Sea.
The latter will likely not form in the next week; however, the system is generating "disorganized" showers and storms, the NHC said. It is expected to move west.
Fernand, while not near American land mass, was closest to Bermuda, according to a NHC advisory. It is expected to head north-northeast; and according to AccuWeather, the U.S. is not expected to be in Fernand's path.
