Flash Flood Risks Swell As More Storms Target GA
A flood watch was issued for some Georgia counties while a "soupy airmass" was slated to drop more thunderstorms into the state.
ATLANTA, GA — A day after flooding in Tennessee overflowed into Georgia, weather officials say more flash flooding may be on the way for parts of the Peach State.
The National Weather Service on Wednesday raised the chances of flash flooding for north Georgia.
A hazardous weather outlook showed metro Atlanta and surrounding areas may face more thunderstorms on Wednesday.

NWS meteorologist Vaughn Smith told Patch that some areas in the northern region were impacted by flooding that poured in Tuesday from Tennessee. The NWS reported 6 inches of downpour in northwest Georgia.
On Wednesday, a flood watch was issued for counties near Georgia's border with Tennessee and North Carolina. Saturated soils mixed with more storms in the north Georgia mountains could be a recipe for additional flooding.

Areas north of Atlanta are currently more susceptible to flooding than others, Smith said.
However, storms from a "soupy airmass" and "tropical-like conditions" in Georgia may arrive between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday in the metro, weather officials say.
The heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding, and 40-50 mph winds could blow with some of the storms, according to the weather outlook.
As the week continues, the NWS predicted isolated to scattered thunderstorms daily through Tuesday. Presently, severe weather in metro Atlanta is low.
