6 Inches Of Rain Possible In GA, Flood Watch Issued

As flood dangers continue in GA, the state broke a record for coolest conditions for this time of the year as temperatures begin to warm.

ATLANTA, GA — Returning heavy rainfall that could accumulate up to 6 inches have prompted another flood watch in north and central Georgia.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch until 8 p.m. Tuesday for metro Atlanta and surrounding communities. It is the second watch activated this week.

While isolated amounts of rain can reach 6 inches, the NWS reported most of the region could experience 1 to 3 inches.

"A very moist air mass will remain in place across the region over the next several days," the NWS said.

This comes a day after the Atlanta, Athens, Columbus and Macon areas broke a record for coolest conditions for this time of the year. The NWS reported high temperatures in Atlanta and Athens lived in the 60s for the first time since August 2013.
