Flood Watch In Effect For All Of Metro Atlanta
Heavy rains are expected through Thursday throughout metro Atlanta and north Georgia.
ATLANTA, GA -- A flash flood watch is in effect for all of metro Atlanta and much of north Georgia until Thursday morning, as another round of heavy rain is expected to deluge the region for the third consecutive day. The National Weather Service has also issued flood warnings for several creeks and rivers that run throughout metro counties, including Big Creek near Alpharetta affecting Forsyth and Fulton counties and Sweetwater Creek near Austell affecting Cobb and Douglas counties.
A strong upper level low pressure system along with deep tropical moisture and rain-saturated ground could result in flooding across metro Atlanta through Thursday morning. Rainfall will increase in intensity throughout Wednesday with an additional 2 to 3 inches of rain likely with isolated higher amounts possible.
The heaviest rainfall is anticipated Wednesday afternoon through early Thursday morning.
