Storms To Bring Serious Flash Flood Risk To GA Monday

Storms could dump up to 6 inches of rain that causes rivers and low-lying areas to flood in Georgia; a flood watch has been issued.

Cooler weather may be prevailing Monday morning, but weather officials are warning of flood dangers in several Georgia counties during widespread rainfall that could reach 6 inches.

Metro Atlanta and other parts of the north and central regions are under a flood watch until 8 p.m. Monday. Excessive rainfall could overflow rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying areas during storms, the National Weather Service said in the alert.

The flood watch included DeKalb, Cobb, Fulton, Rockdale, Bartow, Paulding, Cherokee, Clayton, Forsyth, Fayette, Gwinnett and Douglas counties.
