- A teen suspect has been accused of the Atlanta double shooting that took place late Monday afternoon in the 3200 block of Saville Street. A man is dead and a woman is injured after being shot around 5 p.m. as the result of an altercation between juveniles. Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect is 15 years old and is at large, according to Channel 2. (Atlanta Patch)
- A free Alzheimer's conference is coming to Atlanta next month. The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America is hosting the conference in March to provide information, tools, and support for families facing Alzheimer’s. The Mar. 15 conference at the Miller-Ward Alumni House at Emory University will feature experts in brain health, caregiving, and elder law, as well as memory screenings that could signal whether an additional check-up by a healthcare provider for Alzheimer’s and other dementias is needed. - A major Atlanta cybersecurity company plans to lay off workers. This decision was reportedly made during a period of economic uncertainty. CEO of Secureworks, the cybersecurity company, Wendy Thomas says its path to profitability will be achieved partly by cutting spending. (The Business Journals)
- Atlanta plans to return $10 million in emergency rental assistance to the federal government after the money wasn’t provided to residents in need before the December 2022 deadline. The money was intended to assist with housing costs during the pandemic. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Out On Film, Atlanta’s LGBTQ Film Festival, is accepting submissions following another accomplished year. Its 36th edition will take place on Sep. 21 through Oct. 1. (Georgia Voice)
