Fulton DA Looking For Witnesses To Three Police Shootings

Paul Howard is unveiling billboards asking for anyone who witnessed three specific officer-involved shootings to come forward.

ATLANTA -- The Fulton County D.A.'s office is searching for witnesses and other information related to three officer-involved shootings. D.A. Paul Howard's office has unveiled several Fulton County billboards in attempt to solicit witnesses and additional information to help with the investigations.

The first shooting the office is investigating happened on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at the intersection of Moreland Avenue and Arkwright Place. During this shooting, Kenneth Gilbert, Sr., 56, Kenneth Gilbert, Jr., 29, and an Atlanta police SWAT unit engaged in an altercation. Two billboards related to the shooting are located near Moreland Avenue, Moreland Drive and Memorial Drive.

The second shooting happened Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at the Shell gas station near Whitehall Street and McDaniel Street. D’Ettrick Griffin, 18, was shot and killed by Oliver Simmonds, an off-duty police officer who is a member of Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ security detail. Griffin allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat of Simmonds’ unmarked SUV while he was pumping gas. Simmonds shot and killed Griffin as he attempted to steal the vehicle. The billboard related to this shooting is located at the intersection of Whitehall and McDaniel.

The third incident happened Friday, December 28, 2018, along I-285 near Camp Creek Parkway, when Devin Nolley, 35, was shot during an altercation involving East Point and South Fulton officers. The billboard I-285 near the Camp Creek Parkway.
