Georgia Delta Flights Impacted By War Outbreak In Israel
Delta Air Lines said flights to, through and from Tel Aviv, Israel, are affected after a Hamas attack in Israel Saturday led to a war.

ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines has announced its flights to, through and from Tel Aviv, Israel, are impacted after the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked Israel Saturday, sparking a war outbreak.
According to The Associated Press, Delta joins other major airlines to cancel flights. There were several canceled or delayed flights at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport, where a plume of smoke was seen from the attacks, AP reported.
Delta said scheduled flights from Saturday, Oct. 7, through Saturday, Oct. 14, are impacted by the war. Tickets must be reissued on or before Oct. 21, and rebooked travel must begin no later than that same date.

"Eligibility only for customers with an original ticket issue date on or before Oct. 7, 2023. Changes to origins and destinations may result in an increase in fare. Any difference in fare between your original ticket and the new ticket will be collected at the time of booking," the airlines said.
U.S. President Joe Biden said Monday at least 11 Americans have died in the war, which he called "heart wrenching." He said some Americans are unaccounted for, their whereabouts unknown.

Ahead of the attack, the U.S. Department of State issued travel advisories Tuesday encouraging people not to travel to Gaza, Palestine, due to "terrorism, civil unrest and armed conflict."

The U.S. Embassy in Israel issued its fourth security alert Monday, noting the embassy is monitoring the situation in the Gaza periphery, the areas of Israel near Gaza, and in Gaza.
"There are active military operations in the Gaza periphery and Gaza, as well as rocket and mortar fire in the Gaza periphery. The Erez crossing between Israel and Gaza is closed until further notice, and U.S. citizens in Gaza who wish to leave and can do so safely are advised to check the status of the Rafah Crossing into Egypt. U.S. citizens in Israel who have family members missing in the Gaza periphery can go to the Israel National Police’s combined assistance center at 4 HaNegev St. in Airport City. U.S. citizens in Israel who need assistance should also contact the closest U.S. embassy or consulate using this crisis intake form," the embassy said.
Flight statuses can be checked through the local airlines, and statuses at the Ben Gurion airport can be checked on its website.
