Heat Advisory, Scattered Storms, Flash Flooding Likely Thursday In Atlanta

A heat advisory and hazardous weather outlook are in effect Thursday for northern Georgia.

ATLANTA, GA — A heat advisory and hazardous weather outlook are in effect Thursday for much of the metro Atlanta area, forecasters said.

Temperatures are likely to reach a high of 95, according to the National Weather Service. The heat advisory is in effect from noon to 7 p.m. The heat index values from 105 to 109 are expected. Scattered thunderstorms are also likely with damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding and frequent lightning.

There’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 p.m., according to the NWS.

The following counties are included in the hazardous weather outlook: Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Macon, Paulding, and Walton counties.
