Along with local and Congressional races, Georgia voters are a key in deciding the next U.S. president. Major candidates in the race are Vice President Kamala Harris (Democrat) and former President Donald Trump (Republican).

A top Atlanta area race has Courtney Kramer, a Republican, challenging incumbent Fani Willis, a Democrat, for Fulton County district attorney.

According to a Monday analysis by NBC News of data from election officials across the country, 45 percent of early votes in Georgia were cast by Democrats, 48 percent were by Republicans and 7 percent were by people who haven’t declared a party.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Wednesday said residents smashed early voting numbers in past years. In 2018, 1.3 million ballots were cast, about 800,000 less than in 2020. Two years later, 1.7 million early ballots were cast.

"I stand ready to defend the results of the election with election officials all across the state," Raffensperger said. "We will do our job."

What to Know on Election Day

The next deadline voters may want to mark on their calendars is Dec. 3, when a federal runoff may be held. Monday, Nov. 4, is the last day to register to vote in the runoff.

Another important date is Nov. 22, which is the deadline to request absentee ballots in the runoff. Early voting will start no later than Nov. 25 and will last for five days.

Absentee ballots are mailed to voters and need to be returned to the designated county election office before polls close on Election Day to be counted.

Voters have several options to request absentee ballots and for returning the completed ballots, including hand-delivery or drop-off.
