GA Weather: Hazardous Weather Outlook And Heat Advisory

The heat index is likely to reach over 105 degrees and thunderstorms are forecast for northern Georgia.

GEORGIA — A heat advisory and hazardous weather outlook are in effect Wednesday for much of the metro Atlanta area, forecasters said.

Temperatures are likely to reach a high of 85, according to the National Weather Service. The heat advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. There is also a Level 1 and Level 2 risk for scattered thunderstorms in north and Central Georgia.

The heat index is likely to reach over 105 degrees, according to the NWS. Scattered thunderstorms, a severe wind gust and heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding and frequent lightning is a slight risk for northeastern Georgia through tonight.

There’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m. This evening, it’s expected to drop to a low of around 76 degrees with the wind becoming calm in the evening.

The following counties are included in the hazardous weather outlook: Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Macon, Paulding, and Walton counties.
