Police Chase Ends In Gunfire, Officer-Involved Shooting

Huge police activity delayed traffic on I-285 and Camp Creek Parkway for hours on Friday.

EAST POINT, GA -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting in East Point. According to East Point police, officers saw a vehicle moving erratically through the Camp Creek Marketplace. They encountered the vehicle again at nearby gas station and determined the vehicle was stolen.

Police followed the car to a Publix grocery store and approached it. That's when, police said, the car accelerated toward the officers, striking a police car. Shots were fired at some point during the confrontation, and a police chase ensued. The chase ended on I-285 and Washington Road when someone in the vehicle took off on foot. Additional shots were fired. A suspect, who has not been identified, was taken to Grady Memorial for treatment.
