GEORGIA‌ ‌— ‌A‌ ‌Rockdale‌ ‌County‌ ‌high‌ ‌school‌ ‌was‌ ‌locked‌ ‌down‌ ‌Friday‌ ‌afternoon‌ ‌for‌ ‌suspicion‌ ‌of‌ ‌

a‌ ‌student‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌gun,‌ ‌school‌ ‌officials‌ ‌said.‌ ‌

Rockdale‌ ‌County‌ ‌Public‌ ‌Schools‌ ‌spokesperson‌ ‌Cindy‌ ‌Ball‌ ‌told‌ ‌Patch.‌ ‌

‌“One‌ ‌student‌ ‌allegedly‌ ‌had‌ ‌a‌ ‌gun,”‌ ‌Ball‌ ‌said.‌ ‌ ‌

‌The‌ ‌school‌ ‌went‌ ‌into‌ ‌a‌ ‌“soft‌ ‌lockdown”‌ ‌through‌ ‌the‌ ‌afternoon,‌ ‌Ball‌ ‌said,‌ ‌describing‌ ‌the‌ ‌protocol‌ ‌

that‌ ‌prevents‌ ‌students‌ ‌and‌ ‌school‌ ‌staff‌ ‌from‌ ‌leaving‌ ‌or‌ ‌moving‌ ‌about‌ ‌the‌ ‌building‌ ‌while‌ ‌

instruction‌ ‌continued.‌ ‌

Rockdale‌ ‌County‌ ‌Sheriff’s‌ ‌deputies‌ ‌were‌ ‌called‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌school‌ ‌to‌ ‌investigate,‌ ‌and‌ ‌students‌ ‌were‌ ‌

able‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌dismissed‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌regular‌ ‌afternoon‌ ‌schedule,‌ ‌she‌ ‌said.‌ ‌

‌It‌ ‌is‌ ‌unclear‌ ‌if‌ ‌any‌ ‌arrests‌ ‌were‌ ‌made.‌ ‌The‌ ‌investigation‌ ‌is‌ ‌ongoing.‌ ‌
