Here are the top five stories today in Atlanta:

  1. A man was shot at a metro Atlanta laundromat on Saturday evening. The suspect of the shooting at Huebsch Laundry on Oak Street is a woman who was wearing black pants and a black and red hooded sweatshirt. The victim was transported to the hospital. As of Sunday evening, the investigation was ongoing. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. Toni Sellers-Pitts resigned as executive director of employee relations for Atlanta Public Schools. Her resignation comes after memos within her department revealed numerous complaints about her and recommendations for her termination. Sellers-Pitts told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that she felt overwhelmed and unsupported in her role and staffers had grown "disgruntled." (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  3. Montay Stegall, 35, is dead after refusing to stop for police and striking an embankment with his vehicle which overturned on the road. The Georgia State Patrol was attempting to conduct a traffic stop for Stegall's speeding and failing to signal on Saturday when the crash occurred. Stegall's injuries during the crash were fatal. (WSB Atlanta)
  4. Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts says the violence occurring at the overcrowded Fulton County Jail will soon be on the hands of the Atlanta City Council. Pitts was referring to the council slowing the transfer of inmates from the jail to another location downtown to help ease the overcrowding – and violence – issues. A proposed 700 inmates could move to the almost empty jail, but some council members want to see jail data before approving the transfer. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  5. Two party crashers in Atlanta on Saturday night were the cause of a car crash where one person was critically injured. The pair crashed a birthday party in Atlanta and were asked to leave. "The suspects did leave; however, they started shooting," said Atlanta Police Captain Christian Hunt. Apparently the suspects were planning to drive by the party a second time when the crash occurred. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
