$41M Won With GA Lottery Scratch-Offs

Two players won $1 million playing scratch-offs in the Georgia Lottery, officials said.

A player in Union City won $50,000 in Wednesday's Powerball drawing with a ticket bought from a Jonesboro Road gas station, the Georgia Lottery Corporation said Thursday.

The next Powerball drawing will be on Aug. 2 with an estimated jackpot of $410 million.

Additionally, two Georgia FIVE tickets each won $10,000 in Wednesday's midday drawing. Both tickets were purchased at a Scenic Highway South gas station in Snellville, lottery officials said.

Two Georgia players are richer after a few dollars turned into $1 million, the Georgia Lottery Corporation said Tuesday.

An Axson player added $505,685 to their wallet Monday after winning $1 million with the Millionaire Maker scratch-off, and a Decatur resident hit for $1 million with the Lucky 7 Multiplier scratch-off, lottery officials said.

More than $41.3 million were won in scratch-off games last week, lottery officials said.

Two players secured significant prizes in the latest Mega Millions drawing, but none hit the jackpot, leading to an estimated $130 million there for the taking.

A Brunswick player won $30,000 in the Mega Millions' July 25 drawing after a 3x Megaplier tripled a $10,000 prize, according to the Georgia Lottery Corporation on Monday.

Someone in Columbus won $20,000 after matching the winning numbers with a 2x Megaplier, lottery officials said.

Mega Millions drawings are held at 11 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Tickets cost $5 and are sold until 10:45 p.m. on draw days.

Other recent Georgia Lottery wins were as follows, per lottery officials:

  • A Dallas resident won a $308,474 Fantasy 5 jackpot in Saturday's drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at West Memorial Drive food mart.
  • A Pooler resident on Saturday won $50,000 with a Powerball ticket purchased on the Georgia Lottery mobile app.
  • A Lithonia resident won $38,867 playing Double Win Quick Win on the Georgia Lottery mobile app Saturday.
  • A Temple resident player won $31,388 playing Hit $250 Quick Win on the mobile app.
  • An East Point resident won $100,000 playing Merry Money Mania on Sunday.
  • A Marietta resident won $20,000 playing Lucky 7s Multiplier on Thursday.
  • A Covington resident won $16,353 playing Jackpot Spectacular on Saturday.
  • A Snellville resident won $15,000 playing Mighty Mustang on Saturday.
  • A Valdosta player won $15,000 playing Midas Match on Wednesday, July 23.
  • A Hephzibah resident won $10,000 playing Wild Star Multiplier on Thursday.
  • An Evans player won $10,000 playing Merry Money Mania on Wednesday, July 23.
  • A Blythe resident won $10,000 playing Keno! on the Georgia Lottery mobile app.

All funding from the Georgia Lottery's digital games, scratch-offs and other games benefit education in the Peach State, lottery officials said.

Online winning tickets have an expiration date of 180 days from the drawing date while instant ticket winners have 90 days from the expired date to claim prizes. Instructions on how to receive prizes are here.

Georgia takes 5.75 percent in state taxes and 24 percent in federal taxes for winnings more than $5,000.

"The (Georgia Lottery Corporation) reports to the IRS and Georgia Department of Revenue the names of winners of prizes above $600. ... Additionally, the GLC is required to check for and deduct any outstanding child support payments for prizes of $2,500 and above and student loans and state taxes for prizes of $5,000 and above, net of wager or ticket cost," lottery officials said on the Georgia Lottery website.
