Here's a List Of County And City Offices Closed for MLK Day
Here the holiday closings for the governments of Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett and Atlanta.
ATLANTA, GA -- Celebrations and commemorations of slain civil rights leader the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. begin in earnest in the coming days with several events planned around metro Atlanta.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is always the third Monday of January, which means that this year it falls on Jan. 16. The holiday is being observed that day in several municipalities around the metro area, which means if you're looking to call or head to the city or county offices to pay a bill, it will likely be closed.
To help you coordinate your routine with your local government's, Patch has compiled the official holiday schedules of the four primary counties in metro Atlanta.

Here the the MLK holiday closings for Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Atlanta services:
DeKalb County

DeKalb County Government offices will also be closed Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
DeKalb County Sanitation says that collection services will not run on Monday, Jan. 16, but will run one day late through Friday.
The city of Decatur's Solid Waste & Recycling schedule is as follows:
Holiday observed on Monday, Jan. 16 -- collected on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017.
Holiday observed on Tuesday, Jan. 17 -- collected on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017.

The Decatur City Commission meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of every month unless there is a Monday holiday. The January and February meetings are affected by the MLK holiday and Presidents Day, and will be held:
•Tuesday, Jan. 17
•Tuesday, Feb. 21
Fulton County
Fulton County offices and facilities will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday Monday, January 16, 2016 (3rd Monday in January). The county has also released the complete holiday schedule for 2017.
The Fulton County Library will be closed for the following holidays in January: New Year’s Holiday (Jan. 2); Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 18).
City of Atlanta
City of Atlanta administrative offices and facilities will be closed in observance of New Year’s Day, which will be observed Monday, Jan. 2. Functions will also cease for Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday Monday, January 18, 2016 (3rd Monday in January).
The Municipal Court of Atlanta will observe New Year’s Day on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday will be observed Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 (3rd Monday in January).
The Georgia Department of Driver Services, which has several offices around metro Atlanta, will be closed Saturday, Jan. 14 in observance of MLK Day. The full DDS holiday schedule for 2017 is available here.
Cobb County
All Cobb County Government offices will also be closed Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of New Year’s Day.
The Cobb County Public Library System will be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16.
The city of Marietta offices will be closed for Martin Luther King Day - Monday, Jan. 16.
The city of Smryna's sanitation/recycling schedule for the holidays is as follows: MLK Day -- observed Monday, Jan. 16, 2017:
- Monday routes picked up on Tuesday.
- Tuesday routes picked up Wednesday.
- Thursday and Friday routes unchanged.
- No yard waste or large items this week.

Gwinnett County
All offices, with the exception of those operations required for the comfort and safety of the citizens of Gwinnett County, will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16.
