Micron To Bring 500 Tech Jobs To New Atlanta Design Center In Midtown
Micron Technology, Inc. will open a new Atlanta Design Center in January bringing 500 semiconductor jobs to Midtown.

ATLANTA, GA — One of the world’s largest semiconductor producers, Micron Technology, Inc., will open a new design facility in Midtown Atlanta that could bring up to 500 jobs.
The company, the nation’s only semiconductor manufacturer, made the announcement early Monday morning, siting Atlanta’s diverse pool of tech-savvy professionals and budding STEM graduates from area colleges and universities as a reason for its decision. The center will open in January with the goal of, among other things, building partnerships with schools such as Georgia Tech, Emory University, Spelman College, Morehouse College, the University of Georgia and other higher learning institutions in and around Atlanta, Micron officials said.
“Atlanta is an emerging hub for high-tech innovation, and our Atlanta Design Center will serve as one of Micron's key memory design and engineering locations,” said Scott DeBoer, executive vice president of technology and products at Micron. “Micron’s leadership in both DRAM and NAND technologies are fueling critical advances in artificial intelligence, 5G and autonomous vehicle experiences, creating exciting opportunities for top talent to join us as we develop and deliver our next generation of technology innovation.”

The company joins the likes of Microsoft, Airbnb, FanDuel, and Nike as companies choosing Atlanta as the center to place technology hubs and grow their workforces with high-paying tech careers.
