New Year's Eve: Peach Drop Set For Atlanta As Ball Drops In NYC

A rainy New Year's Eve won't stop revelers from ringing in 2019 with iconic celebrations in Times Square and Underground Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA — As revelers in New York City gather for the annual Ball Drop in Times Square, the iconic Peach Drop is set to ring in 2019 in Georgia. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced the event will return to Underground Atlanta, the home of the very first Peach Drop back in 1989.

Gates open for the Peach Drop at 6 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31. Local artists Jagged Edge & 112 "The Xperience," and Better Than Ezra will perform.

Admission is free. No weapons are allowed on the event premises, and security will inspect items like handbags and book bags at all entrances.

New York Offers Live Stream To Watch Ball Drop In Times Square

One of the world's biggest New Year's Eve celebrations is set for Monday night, and even though the forecast calls for wet, soggy conditions, that won't stop thousands of revelers in New York City from the annual Ball Dropping over Times Square. Courtesy of the Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, Patch is carrying the celebration live beginning at 5 pm Monday.

The co-organizers of the famous Ball Drop are once again partnering with Livestream to offer an international, six-hour webcast of the event. Times Square New Year's Eve host Allison Hagendorf and street correspondents Andrea Boehlke and Jeremy Hassel will provide will cover the action in Times Square, including the hourly countdowns, ball raising ceremony, special guests, musical performances by 2019 GRAMMY Award Nominee Bebe Rexha (“Meant to Be,” “Me, Myself & I”, “I’m a Mess” and John Lennon’s “Imagine”) and alt-pop band lovelytheband (“broken,” “these are my friends” and “maybe, i’m afraid”), and of course the famous Ball Drop at midnight.

The event’s YouTube channel (Times Square Ball) is also posting behind-the-scenes peeks at the preparations leading up to 12/31, including the Numeral Arrival, Numeral Installation atop One Times Square, Crystal Installation, Good Riddance Day, Confetti Test and Ball Test and Balloon Preparation.
