OutKast, ATL Rap Legends, Inducted Into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Atlanta rap duo OutKast, known for "So Fresh, So Clean," was one of seven acts to be inducted into the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

LOS ANGELES, CA — From East Point to Cleveland, Atlanta rap legends Big Boi and André 3000 were inducted into the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday, cementing a lasting legacy spanning more than 30 years.

The duo forms OutKast, one of seven acts to be inducted alongside Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, Soundgarden, Joe Crocker, Salt-N-Pepa, Warren Zevon and the White Stripes. The induction ceremony was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Big Boi and André 3000, whose real names are Antwan André Patton and André Lauren Benjamin respectively, were introduced by actor and rapper Donald Glover. The Hall of Fame is held in Cleveland, Ohio.

"Thank you for making me be the best I can be, man, and for going toe-to-toe in records and iron sharpens iron, just to be the best, man," Patton told Benjamin, embracing his fellow group member. "Ain't nothing but pressure."

As part of the ceremony, Patton performed smashing hit “The Way You Move” with music artist Sleepy Brown. He also performed “The Whole World” and "B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)" with artists Killer Mike, JID, Tyler The Creator, Doja Cat and Janelle Monae. Benjamin reportedly did not perform.

Other hits include "So Fresh, So Clean," "Rosa Parks," "Player's Ball," "Ms. Jackson" and "Hey Ya!"

“A lot of times it’s a lot more than just the notes or the instruments that you playing,” he said. “It’s everybody that’s around you. It’s the family, and this is my family.” (See OutKast's full speech here.)

Since the early '90s, OutKast has been on a musical journey that has garnered them 23 total awards worldwide that include six Grammy awards. They are original members of the Dungeon Family collective founded by Organized Noize and Rico Wade.

Fellow Dungeon Family artist Cee-Lo Green on Sunday reacted to OutKast's induction.

"#congratulations to the legends my #brothers i'm very very proud of you #atlanta," he wrote on Instagram.

OutKast's double album, “Speakerboxx/The Love Below,” sold more than 13 million copies and went platinum 13 times, "making it the best-selling rap album ever in the United States," BET wrote.

The pair has three No. 1 hits, four top 10 hits and 19 songs total on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
