1. 2 Dead In Fiery Crash On Interstate 75 In Atlanta (patch.com) — Atlanta drivers are waking up to tragic news after a fiery single-vehicle crash on southbound I-75 near the Cleveland Avenue exit left two people dead early Saturday morning. Atlanta police say the Kia Sportage left the roadway, struck a pole and caught fire, and their Accident Investigations Unit is working to determine what caused the deadly wreck.
   

2. Atlanta civil rights activist Dr.Joe Beasley dies at 88 (11alive.com) — Atlanta is mourning longtime civil rights leader Dr. Joe Beasley, whose advocacy helped save Grady Memorial Hospital and support the Peachtree-Pine homeless shelter. The Fayette County native spent decades fighting for Black servicemembers, voting rights, and economic equality at home and abroad. A public viewing will be held Dec. 18 at Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home’s Cascade Chapel.
   

3. 2026 Braves Fest: Free tickets now available (wsbtv.com) — Atlanta Braves fans can now reserve free tickets for 2026 Braves Fest at Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta on Jan. 31. The daylong event will feature player meet-and-greets, games, karaoke, and more, plus a ticketed Braves Fest Gala on Jan. 30 benefiting the Atlanta Braves Foundation. Both events require advance tickets through the team’s website.
   

4. Bishops name new director of Georgia Catholic Conference (georgiabulletin.org) — Atlanta’s Catholic community has a new voice at the Capitol as Archbishop Gregory J. Hartmayer appoints longtime archdiocesan leader Jayna Hoffacker director of the Georgia Catholic Conference. Based in Atlanta, she’ll guide church advocacy on statewide public policy, drawing on her restorative justice and social teaching work to represent Catholic concerns across Georgia.
