Based in Atlanta and reporting to owner Arthur Blank, Ryan will oversee all football operations and lead the search for a new head coach and general manager after Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot were dismissed following an 8-9 season.

2. Weekend storms cause rain and wind damage across metro-Atlanta (11alive.com) — Severe weekend storms toppled trees and flooded roads across metro-Atlanta, damaging homes and cars from Marietta to Carroll and Coweta counties. Crews spent Friday night and Saturday clearing massive fallen trees, and local officials are assessing whether a tornado touched down as residents share close calls but report no serious injuries so far.

3. Lil Durk Murder-for-Hire Trial Pushed to Spring, No Exact Date Set (complex.com) — A high-profile federal case tied to a 2022 killing in Atlanta has been delayed again, with attorneys seeking to move the murder-for-hire trial to May. The rapper defendant remains in custody under strict conditions, while a February 9 status hearing will help determine when the long-awaited trial finally begins.

4. Affordability expected to be big topic under the Gold Dome (coastalcourier.com) — State lawmakers gathering at the Capitol in Atlanta next week are zeroing in on affordability, from cutting property taxes to phasing out state income taxes on lower earners. They’re also weighing major changes for Atlanta-area families, including expanding school cellphone bans to high schools, boosting literacy with new coaches, and tackling rising health care costs and doctor shortages across Georgia.
