ATLANTA — Police are hoping to generate new leads in the mysterious murder of an Emory grad, who was found shot to death one year ago. On Monday, police are holding a news conference on the death of Rodrigo Castillo, 33, who was found on the side of I-20 at MLK Drive after he had reportedly gone on a date with an unidentified woman. Castillo was found in his silver VW Jetta just after midnight on August 3, 2018, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where the Mableton resident died.

Police found three shell casings from a 9mm gun in Castillo's car.

Castillo had just gone on a date with a woman he met through Bumble, a dating app. Police said they met at Leon’s Full Service in Decatur about 8 pm, and then went to the Kimball House before leaving about 11:30 pm. Police later identified and spoke to the woman, who is believed to have been the last person to see Castillo alive.
