Riverdale Walmart Shooting Suspect In Custody: Reports

Riverdale police have arrested a man accused of shooting another man inside the meat section at Walmart.

CLAYTON COUNTY, GA — Riverdale police arrested a man who is accused of shooting another customer in a metro Atlanta Walmart, according to multiple reports.

An 18-year-old man, identified as Matthew Thomas, Jr. will be charged with aggravated assault, WSB-TV reported. The victim is recovering at a hospital. According to WAGA-TV, the incident started just after 6 p.m. Thursday at the Walmart on the 700 block of Ga. Highway 85.

Investigators told WAGA-TV that Thomas and another man started arguing in the store’s meat section. Thomas then started shooting and hit the other man.

"All of the sudden we saw a rush of a crowd people running from the back of the store saying ‘Gunman, get down' and that's what everyone started running," a female shopper with two young children told the news station.
