  1. Atlanta's only black ballet company is returning home after a week-long performance in Washington D.C. The Ballethnic ballet dancers performed a dance called “Sanctity” during the “Reframing the Narrative” program at the Kennedy Center, which celebrated Black ballet dancers and their history. The ballet company was formed over 30 years ago by co-founders, wife and husband team, Nena Gilreath and Waverly Lucas. The couple saw a need for a dance company that could represent a place where black dancers and dancers of color could have an opportunity and give other dancers a platform. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. On Saturday night, fireworks sparked a small fire on the roof of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. During a nearby Juneteenth celebration, fireworks were lit too close to the stadium and hit the building. Atlanta Fire Rescue was able to extinguish the small fire using a single water extinguisher quickly. According to security guards in the area, events continued as normal, and the fire response did not disrupt any celebrations. (11Alive.com WXIA)
