- Afterschool program enrollment is open at Atlanta YMCAs. The afterschool program serves 75 elementary schools around town. Kids who participate receive enrichment of social growth and academic achievement. The Y is also hiring for a variety of part-time positions for their afterschool programs. (Reporter Newspapers)
- Four men are being charged after aiming laser pointers at police helicopters. According to a U.S. attorney, pointing a laser at an aircraft can blind the pilot and make it difficult for them to read their instruments. The four men were indicted by a grand jury on Jul. 13 after separate incidents involving the pointing of a laser at a police helicopter. (WSB Atlanta)
