Here are the top five stories in Atlanta today:
- A stolen puppy has been found safe after being stolen at a metro Atlanta shelter. The puppy was one of three stolen on Friday from Paws Atlanta on Covington Highway. The public is asked to contact the DeKalb County Police Department if they have any information about the stolen puppies and their whereabouts. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- Atlanta's Chaka Zulu, a big name in the city's music industry, has been charged with murder and other crimes. Zulu, the long-time manager of Ludacris and co-founder of Disturbing Tha Peace record label, was charged regarding a Jun. 26 shooting incidence at his restaurant in Buckhead. He was also charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, and simple battery. (WSB Atlanta)
- After a story aired about a local nine-year-old boy not having anyone but his family show up to his birthday party, he will now have one for the books. Austin Thomason received over 15,000 birthday cards to his Atlanta home along with gifts. Thomason, who is diagnosed with autism, had a birthday celebration at Local Church Forsyth on Sunday where dozens of people traveled near and far after hearing about his story. (WAFF)
- Emory University's Oxford campus was the center of a bomb threat early Sunday morning. Officials found no threat and those who were evacuated from campus were able to return. Police are trying to identify the person who made the call of the threat. (CBS 46 News)
- Drugs and a gun were present during the first day of youth football at Welcome All Park on Saturday. South Fulton police officers arrested the parent in possession of the items. Officials said, “Ensuring that our parks remain safe and secure for everyone to enjoy remains one of our top priorities.” (CBS 46 News)
