In Georgia, the heat can reach up to 112 degrees amid windy and lightning-producing storms.
ATLANTA, GA — An extreme heat warning has been issued in some Georgia counties, while weather officials have released a heat advisory Monday in other parts of the state amid lightning-producing storms.
The National Weather Service on Monday revealed a map that showed triple-digit temperatures statewide.
"It is going to be a hot one today, here are the expected heat indices (feels like temperatures) for this afternoon. Do what you can to stay hydrated and cool everyone," the NWS said in a Facebook post.

The weather service issued an extreme heat warning for the Dublin area and other areas further southeast, but a large majority of Georgia underwent a heat advisory at 11 a.m., including metro Atlanta. The advisory is set to expire at 8 p.m. Monday.
Heat indices up to 109 degrees are expected in metro Atlanta and surrounding communities, according to the advisory. In areas under the heat warning, apparent temperatures can reach up to 112 degrees.

The heat will persist through Wednesday, with weather officials saying Tuesday is expected to be the most intense day for heat and humidity.
But cooler weather shall prevail by the weekend due to a cold front, the NWS said.
Also in play in Georgia are isolated thunderstorms, which are anticipated for the next several days in the metro Atlanta region.
The NWS reported frequent lightning and 40-mph wind gusts to come with Monday afternoon's storms in the metro area.
Then, in the coming days, downburst winds could gain speed and reach 50 mph among heavy rain and frequent lightning, the NWS reported.
The storms may clear in north and central Georgia by Saturday.
