Downpours could arrive in areas north of Interstate 85 between 5 a.m. and noon and into central Georgia between noon and 4 p.m., the NWS said.

Some of these storms could be strong to severe and could produce damaging wind gusts.

Tornadoes may be possible with some storms, NWS meteorologist Ryan Willis told Patch on Tuesday.

The NWS then doubled down on the forecast, saying Wednesday that "a brief, weak tornado can also not be ruled out." Weather officials also indicated isolated hail up to 1 inch is possible.
