Tim Tebow, Home Depot Renovating Atlanta Veteran's Westside Home

Vietnam veteran Alvis Haadee's longtime Westside Atlanta home is in desperate need of repairs. Help is on the way.

ATLANTA -- Longtime Westside Atlanta resident Alvia Haadee served his nation long and proud in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Afterward, he went to work for the city of Atlanta, and used savings to buy his home and keep it maintained. Now, however, Haadee's home is in desperate need of repair.

Not to worry.

On Friday, Feb. 1, The Home Depot Foundation will partner with HouseProud and two-time national champion, first round NFL draft pick, and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, to give back in Atlanta’s Westside community. Tebow will join more than 20 members of Team Depot to repair and refurbish Haadee's home. Some of the repair projects include interior repairs, construction of a new mailbox, and landscaping. The project is part of The Home Depot Foundation’s philanthropic support in its hometown.

The foundation has made a $6.3 million commitment over five years to support the redevelopment of Atlanta’s historic Westside community. In addition, Haadee’s house refresh is part of The Home Depot’s ongoing efforts to improve the homes and lives of U.S. military veterans and their families. Giving back to veterans is personal to The Home Depot, as more than 35,000 of the company’s associates have served in the military.

HouseProud Atlanta provides free repairs to senior, disabled, and veteran neighbors. From plumbing and roofing to wheelchair-ramp installations, HouseProud Atlanta’s key goal is to keep homeowners in their existing homes. HouseProud Atlanta was established as an independent nonprofit in 2012. In the past year, HouseProud Atlanta served 102 senior, veteran and disabled Atlanta residents.
