Two Georgia Officers Shot, Suspect Killed in Byron: Reports
One officer underwent surgery for his wound. Second officer was treated and released, according to media reports.

BYRON, GA — A suspect was killed overnight after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement, injuring two officers in Byron, Georgia, according to media reports. One officer is still being treated for injuries that were not life threatening. The second officer was treated and released from the hospital.
The shooting is less than a week after the deaths of two Americus officersresponding to a report of a domestic dispute. And it is a little more than a month since two Peach County deputies were killed just miles from the scene in Byron.
The two officers shot early Monday were reportedly part of an eight-person drug task force serving a warrant in Fort Valley at 2:10 a.m. Monday, according to WMAZ.

Five of the officers entered the home and found the armed suspect, who reportedly fired on police.
"As they were going in, one of the occupants inside the house fired at least one round at the officers. I don't know if he fired more than one round," GBI Special Agent in charge J.T. Ricketson told WMAZ.

Officers reportedly returned fire and killed the suspect, according to WSB.
One of the officers injured was shot in the shoulder and underwent surgery, while the other officer was treated and released, WSB reports.
