- Atlanta public schools will be holding meetings on a potential rezoning effort to combat overcrowded schools. Beginning today (Mar. 8) and continuing through Mar. 15, virtual and in-person meetings will be held for schools throughout the district. - Two high school students were killed and seven others were injured in a shooting at a sweet sixteen birthday party in Douglas County. According to officials, shots broke out outside a birthday party, striking students whose ages ranged from fourteen to nineteen years old. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, the shooter was not identified. (Subscription: Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Clergy members delivered letters to the Atlanta City Council on Monday to protest the construction of the so-called "Cop City." Faith leaders and activists joined together on Monday to hold a press conference regarding the planned construction. - Twenty-three protestors were charged after a clash with police turned violent on Sunday evening. An estimated 100 protestors who were in attendance at the South River Music Festival left the event, changed into black clothing, and entered the proposed site of the controversial police training center located in DeKalb County. - Looking to see Gucci Mane live in concert? You'll get an opportunity at the Atlanta Hawks game on Mar. 26. It will be the Atlanta-based rapper's first time performing at a Hawks game in seven years. At his last performance at a Hawks game, he proposed to his now-wife Keyshia Ka'oir Davis.
