UNION CITY, GA — YSL defendant Deamonte "Yak Gotti" Kendrick was stabbed Sunday during a physical dispute between him and another inmate at the Fulton County Jail, authorities said Monday.

Kendrick is being housed at the jail's South Annex in Union City, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office said. He was stabbed with an unidentified sharp object and received treatment for minor injuries, authorities said.

The sheriff's office did not say what led to the dispute.

Both authorities and Kendrick's attorney, Doug Weinstein, expected Kendrick to be present in court Monday.

The court session began shortly after 10:45 a.m., with Kendrick sitting next to Weinstein.

"I spoke to Deamonte last night, and while he sounded tired, I expect him to make a full recovery. I expect to be able to see him in court today and will know more then. Please keep Deamonte in your prayers, along with all those housed in our Fulton county jails," Weinstein tweeted early Monday.

In a TikTok video posted Monday, Weinstein said Kendrick was about to be taken to a hospital to get stitches when he spoke with him.

Kendrick is one of two remaining defendants in the YSL gang and racketeering trial that once involved rapper Jeffery "Young Thug" Williams. Shannon "SB" Stillwell, who was stabbed at the Fulton County Jail in December 2023, is also on trial.

The trial began with six defendants, including Williams, in November 2023 but has dwindled to Stillwell and Kendrick after Williams and three other co-defendants pleaded guilty to various charges.
