  1. As French becomes more widely used in cybersecurity, Dr. E. Nicole Meyer, a professor of French at Augusta University, has been awarded a prestigious Empowering French and Francophone Studies grant by the French Embassy of the United States. The grant will allow Meyer to collaborate with faculty from the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences to incorporate cyber-related French materials and activities into the university's four-semester language sequence, as well as to design an upper-level cyber and French course.   2. Zaire Person, an honor roll student and football player at Butler High School, was identified as the victim of a shooting at a large Splat Party that ended on Old McDuffie Road in Richmond County. Person's grandmother, Tanya Borders, described him as a beloved older brother who enjoyed playing video games with friends. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the incident to call (706) 821-1080, and callers can remain anonymous. (WRDW)
  3. The 2023 Garden City Festival will take place in downtown Augusta next weekend, beginning on Apr. 21. The festival, which has been ranked as one of the top 20 festivals in Georgia, will feature garden and floral exhibits, engaging speakers, pop-up workshops, a Vendor Market, and private garden tours. Proceeds from the festival will go toward the preservation of the Sacred Heart Cultural Center. (WRDW)
