Sibley Mill could follow mixed-use development trend with possible sale (wrdw.com) — A long-vacant landmark, Sibley Mill on the Augusta Canal, may soon be sold for a major mixed-use redevelopment that could start early next year. The $75 million project and $2 million sale would help plug the Canal Authority’s budget gap, upgrade hydro infrastructure, and bring more residents, offices, and restaurants to downtown and Harrisburg.
   

2. Georgia data center power plan faces opposition before Friday vote (wrdw.com) — A major state vote this Friday could shape how much you pay for power in Augusta, as Georgia Power seeks approval to add 10,000 megawatts largely for data centers. Incoming regulators and local residents are pushing back, warning of higher bills, noise, and light pollution while Columbia County leaders consider zoning changes to speed data center approvals and a massive Appling project advances.
   

3. A Very Funky Christmas Coming to Augusta (wfxg.com) — A funky holiday concert is headed to downtown Augusta this Saturday, Dec. 20, at Le Chat Noir on 8th Street, featuring local musician Lamar Morgan and several of Augusta’s standout performers. Expect soulful takes on holiday favorites, jazzy twists, and a community-focused celebration presented by L4 Jazz. Organizers are inviting residents to make it a memorable night out.
   

4. Vote for Augusta high school athlete of the week for Dec. 7-14 (augustachronicle.com) — Augusta sports fans can help spotlight local talent by voting for the area’s high school Athlete of the Week for Dec. 7–14, with the poll open until Sunday, Dec. 21. The nominees include standout flag football and basketball players who posted big points, steals, and rebounds. Readers can also suggest future nominees directly to the sports reporter.
