Here are the top three stories in Augusta today:
- The Easter Bunny surprised pediatric patients at Doctors Hospital in Augusta and seniors in the Aiken Meals-on-Wheels program. Doctors Hospital is home to the largest Burn Center in the United States, treating thousands of patients annually. Senior citizens who are part of the Meals-on-Wheels program in Aiken County received Easter baskets, donated to the United Way’s Be-A-Bunny program. (WRDW)
- Pilots from NetJets, the largest private jet company in the world, are protesting at Augusta Regional Airport over what they consider to be unfair compensation. The pilots are hoping to raise awareness about the need for a better quality of life and career prestige, arguing that other companies in the industry have surpassed their contract terms. They are calling for increased conditions to make NetJets more competitive in the current market, without lowering the minimum qualifications for pilots. (WJBF-TV)
- Tevin Lloyd, 23, was arrested by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday afternoon on the 3400 block of Kensington Drive South. The victim was identified as 24-year-old Marquez Bokknight, who was shot at least two times and pronounced dead at Augusta University. An autopsy has been scheduled while the investigation continues.
