13.1 Atlanta Marathon Comes to Town Brookhaven
The October event will start and finish adjacent to the Town Brookhaven Publix

Town Brookhaven - adjacent to the new hybrid Publix - will serve as the new location of the start/finish area for the 13.1 Atlanta Marathon Series.
For the finish line, Town Brookhaven, located at 104 Town Boulevard in the Town Brookhaven development off Peachtree Road, will add a festive atmosphere for the runners who have completed their 13.1 mile journey and want to celebrate a personal victory, organizers said.
The eight-city tour is schedule for Atlanta on October 2 and is organized by US Road Sports & Entertainment Group (USRS), owners and operators of the ING Miami Marathon, Publix Georgia Marathon, Chicago Half Marathon, New Jersey Marathon and the 13.1 Marathon® Series.

“I am so excited to be a part of this event. Town Brookhaven is a premiere pedestrian-friendly urban community,” said Gretchen Roberts, Marketing Director, Sembler/Town Brookhaven said in a news release. “As we continue to brand Brookhaven, this is just one of many opportunities we have to bring the community together.”
Organizers said the new start line is being improved this year with the addition of wider lanes to promote less congestion. Last year's start/finish was at .

“We are pleased to unveil a vastly improved start/finish line which will enable the runners a better opportunity for a strong start,” said Jeff Graves, 13.1® Atlanta Marathon Race Director. “By changing this aspect, runners will have a better overall experience on race day.”
According to the release, the 2011 13.1 Marathon® Series spans the U.S., and began in Los Angeles in January along the shores of the Santa Monica Bay and the world famous Venice Beach area. 13.1 Marathon® Series has also visited Miami Beach with a now famous beach party, New York City in the shadow of the Unispere in Flushing Meadow Park and Chicago which shows you the South Side like it was meant to be seen.

13.1® Minneapolis - August 21, 2011: features a challenging and scenic point to point course highlighting downtown, the Mississippi River, Minnehaha Parkway and Lake Nokomis;
13.1®Atlanta - October 2, 2011: course encompasses Town Brookhaven in Atlanta's Brookhaven community;
13.1® Dallas - October 22, 2011: features a dramatic downtown start amongst the “all hat and all cattle” iconic Big D skyline; and
13.1®Fort Lauderdale - November 13, 2011: offers an amazing sunrise on a scenic and friendly course. Start near Port Everglades and the Broward Convention Center.
2012 races include –
13.1® Los Angeles – January 15, 2012: California Dreamin’ on a Winters Day. Runners are treated to beautiful Southern California weather on a course that starts right along the Pacific Ocean on the Venice Boardwalk and then a very Flat and Fast course finishes up in the Winward Traffic Circle in Venice Beach;
13.1® Miami – March 4, 2012: Runners will take the scenic route of South Beach with a start on famous Ocean Drive and a beautiful beach side finish;
13.1® New York – March 24, 2012: will be run within historic Flushing Meadows Corona Park, home of the 1939 and 1964 World's Fair, and begins in front of Arthur Ashe Stadium;
13.1® Chicago – June 9, 2012: Runners will enjoy the South Side of Chicago with a beautiful course that starts and finishes at the South Shore Cultural Center and runs right along Lake Michigan.
