Brookhaven and Chamblee Schools Hit, Miss on AYP
Both local high schools and one elementary school did not meet the state standards.
Three Brookhaven and Chamblee area schools failed to meet the state's annual academic standards, according to information released by the Georgia Department of Education Wednesday afternoon.
Chamblee High School, and School did not meet the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) - a measurement defined by the federal No Child Left Behind Act to determine schools' performance.

- Chamblee Middle School
- Huntley Hills Elementary School
According to the Department of Education, AYP is a tool that determines how schools need to improve and where financial resources should be allocated. Schools that do not meet AYP for two years in a row are identified as "schools in need of improvement" and are subject to immediate interventions. Cross Keys is in need of corrective action, according to the report and Woodward Elementary School will need to offer school choice options or tutoring services. Chamblee High School does not need corrective action.
