Brookhaven Commission Provides Progress of Committees, Seeks Volunteers
The Governor's Commission on Brookhaven is chugging right along and making progress in nearly every one of its 10 committees.
At the third meeting of the Governorβs Commission on Brookhaven, the five members of the commission delivered progress reports from the various committees they chair. The meeting was held Thursday night at St. Martinβs Episcopal School with about 40 attendees.
In addition to naming the civilian co-chairs of the 10 committees created by the commission, Commission Chairman Ben Vinson also announced the experts that would help guide each of the committees as well.
The only action items voted on by the commission was the approval of Lyn Rosser as its pro bono executive secretary and the approval of the atrium at St. Martinβs Episcopal School as the venue for the commissionβs weekly public meeting.

Vinson also announced that the Georgia Municipal Association has agreed to host and lead the candidate training sessions required by Georgia law of new cities. The tentative training session dates are Oct. 9 in the evening and Oct. 13 during the day. This would give the candidates the option of attending on a weeknight or on a Saturday.
Commission member Kim Gocke, who chairs the Project Management & Communication committee, stressed that the βNo. 1 resourceβ for residents to receive information from the commission was on its website, brookhavencommission.com.
