Brookhaven Police To Host Drug Collection Unit

Initiative is the result of grant from CVS Health's Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- The Brookhaven Police Department's lobby will house a drug collection unit where residents can dispose of unused, unwanted or old medication, Patch has learned.

The initiative is the result of a grant awarded to the department by CVS Health’s Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program, which advocates for the safe and environmentally responsible disposal of drugs, including illegal ones. The program also aims to keep drugs out of the hands of minors.

“CVS Health is dedicated to helping the communities we serve address and prevent prescription drug abuse,” Tom Davis, vice president of Pharmacy Professional Services at CVS Health, said in a statement. “Reducing the amount of unused and unwanted medication in the home is critical to preventing prescription drug abuse. We are proud to work with the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids and local leaders to increase convenient access to safe medication disposal.”
